The Office of Information Services (OIS), Republic Polytechnic is pleased to announce our partnership with Microsoft to bring these great services to you, our students.

Key benefits to the new Student Email System

  • The email servers are hosted in Microsoft Cloud Computer, and so do not rely on RP connection and servers
  • 10GB of mailbox space (your existing RP mailbox is 100MB only)
  • You will be given Windows Live Messenger account based on your student ID (i.e. 12345@myrp.edu.sg)
  • Windows Live Messenger web client integrated to the webmail interface
    • So you can chat without the need to install Windows Live Messenger client
  • Cutting edge mail server technology including the webmail interface
  • Students will continue to use their email address including their personalized email address
    • 12345@myrp.edu.sg
    • 12345@myrp.sg
    • chuck@myrp.edu.sg
  • The Live@Edu suite of services is platform independent and available to all Windows, Mac and even Linux users. It will be offered to both students and graduates following you and lasting throughout your lifetime.

Key changes to the new Student Email System

  • Resource Booking
    • Booking of facilities (i.e. swimming pool) or RPRC resources (i.e. camera) will no longer be available using Outlook calendar booking
      • This is because Microsoft Live@edu does not support calendar integration with corporate email system
      • RP is working with Microsoft live@edu to have this service available.
      • OIS will update all students when resource booking through outlook is available again.
    • Resource booking will have to be done thru the RP IT and Facility Resource Booking System
  • Students will no longer see any staff’s free/busy schedule in the calendar even though the staff shared his/her calendar to the student
    • By default students cannot see any staff’s calendar unless the staff explicitly share his/her calendar to the student
    • Students are advised to check with the staff by email for his/her schedule when necessary
    • This is because Microsoft Live@edu does not support calendar integration with corporate email system
    • RP is working with Microsoft live@edu to have this service available.
    • OIS will update all students when this is available again through outlook.
