I deleted the email containing my Live@Edu password, how can I retrieve my password? (^ back to top)
You can retrieve your password by recovering the deleted email. To recover, open Microsoft Outlook.
At the Menu bar, select Tools > Recover Deleted Items


Select the email to recover and click on the 2nd button (Recover Selected Items)
Note: The email will be recovered to the folder before it was deleted.

I forgot my Live@Edu password, where can I reset the password? (^ back to top)
If you have forgotten your Live@Edu password, you can use the "Forgot your password?" option in the login page.

The password will be sent to the alternate email address that was configured during your 1st time login to Live@Edu.
You can change the alternate email address by going to "Options" and selecting "Change your password".

How do I access my Live@edu email? (^ back to top)
There are few ways to access your email:
1) Microsoft Outlook 2007 client
2) http://www.outlook.com/
3) ActiveSync (mobile devices)
4) IMAP4 / SMTP (for 3rd party email clients)

Microsoft Office Outlook 2010 is currently not officially supported in RP.
NOTE:
     You are required to login to http://www.outlook.com/ to answer some questions if you have not access your Microsoft live@edu email.

You will not be able to configure your Microsoft Outlook client / ActiveSync / IMAP4 client if you haven't login to your mailbox via http://www.outlook.com/

How do I configure Outlook to receive emails from Live@Edu? (^ back to top)
Before configuring your Live@Edu Email in Outlook, you must log in to http://www.outlook.com/ and complete the questions until you see your mailbox.
If you already completed the requirement to login to http://www.outlook.com/, follow the instruction below:

Note: If you are configuring Outlook for the 1st time, the default 1st profile that you create will always be linked to your RP Email. You need to repeat these steps to configure an additional Email profile for Live@Edu.

1) Open Control Panel > Mail


2) In the Mail Setup dialog box, click Show Profiles.


3) Click Add.


4) In the New Profile dialog box, type in LiveEdu for the name of the profile. Click OK.


5) When the Add New E-Mail Account dialog box prompts for the E-Mail settings, enter your name, E-Mail address and Live@Edu password. Click Next.


6) When prompted to allow website to configure your Live@Edu profile, click Allow.


7) When prompted to enter your password, type in your email address and Live@Edu password.


8) Upon successful configuration, click Finish.

Can I transfer my existing emails from RP to Live@Edu? (^ back to top)
Yes, you will need to export the RP emails and import the exported data to Live@Edu using Microsoft Outlook's Import and Export Wizard. Transfer time depends on how many emails you are trying to import. If you have lots of emails, it may take hours.

To export from Outlook, click File and select Import and Export


Select Export to a file. Click Next.


Select Personal Folder File (.pst). Click Next.


Choose the folder containing the emails you wish to export (To export everything, select the highest node at the top "Mailbox - Username"). To include subfolders, tick the box Include subfolders. Click Next.


Choose a location to save the export data and emails. Select the option Replace duplicates with items exported. Click Finish.


To import to Live@Edu, click File and select Import and Export. Click Next.


Select Import from another program or file. Click Next.


Select Personal Folder File (.pst) from the list of file type. Click Next.


In the Import Personal Folders options, locate the exported pst file that we created above.
Select the option Replace duplicates with items imported. Click Next.


Select the folder to import from. Click Finish.

Can I access my email using other email client? E.g. Mozilla Thunderbird (^ back to top)
Yes. Live@Edu supports IMAP4.The email client must support secure IMAP and SSL encryption.
Do note that POP3 access is not supported.

How will this affect resource and equipment booking? (^ back to top)
(Students only) Resources and equipments will still be available for booking but the previous method of booking via Outlook Calendar will no longer be applicable. Instead, students will make use of the RP IT and Facility Booking System. OIS is aware of this limitation and is working with Microsoft on a solution in the near future.

Live@Edu is built for life. After graduation as a RP Alumni, you are entitled to the same suite of Live@Edu services as an existing RP student.

How do I change my password? (^ back to top)
Your Live@Edu password is maintained separately from your RP domain password.
To change your RP domain password, refer to here
To change your Live@Edu password, login to www.outlook.com.

Once logged in, click on Options at the top right corner of the page.


Under the category Shortcuts to other things you do, select Change your password.

Can I recover a deleted emails in Live@Edu? (^ back to top)
An email can only be recovered if it has been deleted for less than 30 days. To recover the deleted email, use the Recover Deleted Items option in Microsoft Outlook. You can follow the same steps here.

Help, I am unable to access www.outlook.com / www.hotmail.com and it is showing the following error (^ back to top)
         "This account does not have an Outlook Web App mailbox." or
         "You may have already opened your mailbox on a different browser tab."

Browse to www.hotmail.com and Sign Out from Hotmail.

The above errors indicates that you might be signed in to Live@Edu or Hotmail.com. Open a new browser window or sign out from Live@Edu or Hotmail.com and try again.
Note: Opening a new tab will not work as the browser window shares a single session of your email credential

Why are my emails showing the incorrect received date and time? (^ back to top)
Ensure in regional settings that the time zone selected is (GMT +8:00) Kuala Lumpur, Singapore.
Do this by going to Options > Settings > Regional

How do I switch between RP and Live@Edu Email profile in Microsoft Outlook? (^ back to top)
Open Control Panel > Mail


In the Mail Setup dialog box, click Show Profiles.


At the bottom, select the optionĀ  Prompt for a profile to be used.
Click OK.



When you launch Microsoft Outlook, you should be able to choose which Email profile you want to load.

Why is my Outlook webmail using the old interface (Outlook Web Access light version)? (^ back to top)
This is due to the option "Use the blind and low vision experience" being enabled.
You can disable this option by going to Options > Accessibility
After saving the changes, log off and close the Internet browser.

The combined attachments in a single email is capped at a maximum of 20MB.

Microsoft Live@Edu has enforced a limit of 100 recipients per email.

Microsoft Live@Edu has enforced a sending limit for Outlook Live email accounts to no more than 500 recipients per day.

Microsoft Live@Edu has enforced a maximum session size limit. Keep your email message size below 500KB.
